Hmm... so here I am... days after starting my new and planned-to-be interesting blog about my "adventures" in the kitchen, and I have nothing to say!
Last night, I was very lucky to have a beautiful meal cooked for me by my lovely parents. I should have taken a photo of it just so I could write something!!
And tonight, with left-overs from our camping trip on the weekend, we had jacket potatoes. Not very creative and I couldn't say it was very healthy either... but it was still delicious and filling. No photos of that either due to the fact that it was basically cook and eat within 15 mins.

Tomorrow night... there will be a creation tomorrow night. I'll start planning right now!!

A version of the jacket potato... ours were just a little bit more unhealthy with sour cream, cheese, coleslaw and garlic butter....

The first *official* cooking blog by me

I've decided that I should keep a blog of my cooking adventures - both to inspire me and to keep me motivated with cooking different things.

I love cooking and I have an entire shelf full of recipe books... but they are hardly ever used!
"What do you want for dinner?"
"I dunno... you choose."
"Something easy?"
"Curry? Chicken and Pasta?"
"Yeah, all right. That'll do."

Now, don't get me wrong... the good ol' faithful dishes are my favourites and most cooked for a reason. They're delicious and satisfying every time!
But with so many recipes and options to try, I think I need to experiment more and actually cook different things!

On the baking side of things... I do have a legitimate reason for the lack of creations.
Let me just upload a photo of my so-called "oven" - the photo can speak for itself.

Try cooking anything other than one tray of cupcakes in this bad boy and you'll realise why baking hasn't been on my list of things to do. It's utterly painful, besides also being pretty useless to cook in! The picture shown here is straight from the Sunbeam website. Don't be fooled by the pleasant and deliciousness of that roast in there. From my experiences with this contraption, if you try cooking anything remotely more difficult than a cupcake (i.e. more than 15 mins of cooking time), then you're going to be left with a burnt, overcooked meal. It's just terrible! Plus I have a hard time fitting 2 chicken breasts in there to cook let alone a whole roast and veggies. It's just embarrassing.
And just let me add, it's not my choice to have this useless appliance. The rental property we're in didn't have an oven, so they provided us with this lovely item.

Anywho... that's my reason for a decrease in baking... but I will attempt to do some - plus there's always slices and other things to make using the fridge!

Let the adventures in the kitchen begin!!
